COURSE OVERVIEW

20 Months
+ 6 Months Internship

Construction Knowledge

All relevant construction knowledge such as building materials and their usage, incorporate practicality into a design will be taught in this segment.

Learning On The Job

Through a visitation to the construction site and practical learning, students will be able to get the real feeling of working in the industry and learn every single knowledge (both execution and safety) shared by the experts.

Interior Design

Guided by experienced lecturers to push their creativity to the next level, students can explore their potential with a step-by-step guide and become a professional interior designer.

Computer Drawing Techniques

Students will be able to learn to use two major digital drawing software for interior design: 3D Studio Max and 2D AutoCAD to learn the techniques of three-dimensional drawing and blueprint drawing. This is where students can create their artwork.

Soft Skill

There are plenty of skills an interior designer will need to learn in order to be successful including marketing and communication skills. This will help students to improve their self-esteem and be expressive which will improve their chances of getting a big break.

Internship

After completing five semesters of academic lectures, you will enter the final phase of the course: an internship. During the internship, you will experience and understand the actual employment market and employers’ demands while applying what you have learned and showcase your potential.

Professional

In this phase, students will need to complete a concept design based on a theme to thoroughly test their skills from every perspective. Meanwhile, they will be taught skills to market their designs, such as quotation of artwork execution and customer service, which is extremely important to prepare them before entering the real market and exploring the industry.

Advance

This is the fourth semester, which is considered a high-level academic lecture. Students will be required to design based on the themes of restaurant and office interiors. To help students design better, they will conduct visitations to actual construction sites and learn about construction and safety knowledge. Additionally, students can tap into this opportunity to better understand current markets and communication skills. Drawing techniques will also be taught at a final level during this phase.

Standard

During the second & third semesters, students will learn to design based on the theme of commercial interiors, with an emphasis on concept development. Students will explore their creativity, thinking skills, and embrace their confidence during this stage. Experienced lecturers will teach moderate drawing techniques and a wide range of construction knowledge.

Basic

Students will start by learning the introduction to interior design and getting in touch with their inner creativity, as well as enhancing their senses towards art. In this phase, students will learn basic drawing techniques, basic knowledge, and home interior design.

FIRST YEAR

Engage in range of projects, workshop, experiments and exercise to understand the principle of ideation and communication in interior design.

Study on various of historical context, interdisciplinary nature of interior design and its cultural.

Examine the application of advance technologies and sustainable materials together with manufacturing techniques in interior design.

Amplify creativity thinking with research, analytical and reflective techniques.

Conveying your design idea using 3D rendering, sketching, model making and technical drawing.

SECOND YEAR

Understanding briefs and user to carry out design work as well as realisation with a particular focus on applying concept.

Solving design problems with applying a flexible and imaginative approach through enquiry-based learning, using storytelling and lateral thinking.

Applying social, historical and professional context to the subject discipline by studying cultural, theoretical, and professional issues.

Engage with contemporary interior design issues and demonstration you approach to deliver a final design project with embracing full interior design process.

Provide broad contextualisation to your practice with a complete research report.
